Golf Tournament Supports Breast Screening

The Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (AMGH) Foundation accepted a generous donation of $2,725, proceeds from the Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament, on July 22. The donation will go towards the AMGH Breast
Screening Clinic.

“The excitement generated by the event was amazing,” said Shannon LaHay, manager of finance and administration, AMGH Foundation. “The desire to support breast cancer screening in our local community was expressed
to me directly by many of the participants.  The Foundation is very grateful for the support of these ladies and the generous donation that comes from their participation in this fun event.”

Linda Kirkwood, tournament co-cordinator said their wish is for the proceeds go towards the maintenance and enhancement of the Breast Cancer Screening Clinic at AMGH.

“We hope that these funds will aid in the continuance of this service and raise awareness in the community of its availability and value,” Kirkwood said.

This year’s tournament took place on July 12 at the Sunset Golf Club in Goderich. The tournament is organized and run by the Ladies Golf Group and the Gravett family, owners of the golf club. Former golf club owner Shirley Baechler created the tournament 15 years ago and since its inception, the Rally for the Cure tournament has grown from 20 participants to 64 and has raised a total of $21,825.
