Michael’s Pharmasave Expands To Goderich
Steph Smith, Goderich Signal Star
For the past two and a half years Michael Ibrahim, pharmacist and owner of Michael’s Pharmasave in Bayfield, has been working to expand his services beyond the Bayfield area. Recently his dream became a reality with the opening of the Goderich location on Cambria Road.
“When the opportunity to expand to Goderich presented itself, it was an easy decision to say ‘yes,’” Ibrahim said. “During my career at Zellers, I came to know many of my customers. I felt my services were then, and continue to be, both needed and appreciated. …We are not new to Goderich and I understand and feel connected to this community.”
Ibrahim and his young family moved to Goderich in 1996 when he became pharmacy manager at Zellers. He said originally he and his wife thought they would live here for a couple of years and then move back to Toronto, but as time went on they found themselves ‘falling in love’ with the area.
“Nineteen years later and we’re still here.” Ibrahim said. “Our kids grew up here and the area has become our permanent home; we love it here and could not imagine living anywhere else.”
In 2007, Ibrahim took the plunge to open his own pharmacy, Michael’s Pharmasave, in Bayfield. Since then, the store has gone through four renovations and expansions to meet the increasing need of his customers and to offer new services.

“My business vision and philosophy has encompassed the idea of identifying the unique and needed areas of care that would benefit our community, instead of simply opening a traditional, standard pharmacy and repeat existing services,” Ibrahim said. “…I normally do not expand for the sake of expansion, rather to fill a need.”
Ibrahim said Michael’s Pharmasave in Bayfield offers many services that would be of value to the residents of Goderich and the surrounding area. Opening a location in Goderich was a natural choice for him, especially given the presence that he has in the town as a pharmacist with the Maitland Valley Family Health Team and his past work as a pharmacist with Zellers.
Between the Bayfield and Goderich locations, an array of services will be offered including, but not limited to:
· Ideal Protein Weight Protocol
· Smoking cessation
· Immunizations
· Medication reviews
· Home health care ADP for mobility, pressure garments and respiratory products
· CPAP machine fittings
· Free prescription delivery
“My goal is to meet and exceed my customer’s expectations and to be able to continue to make a difference in people’s lives,” Ibrahim said. “Michael’s Pharmasave is here in Goderich to serve the community and … enhance people’s life experience in a convenient way … [without them having] to travel too far.”
Michael’s Pharmasave in Goderich is located on 181 Cambria Rd.,N and is open six days a week – Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Grand Opening event is scheduled for mid-November.
“I really want the community to know and realize that they have options, and we understand and appreciate that it’s a choice to visit us,” Ibrahim said. “I am excited and looking forward to serve here in any way I can. Thank you to my community, it’s a pleasure to call you neighbours and friends.”
