Employees at CIBC’s Goderich branch are rallying around a co-worker recovering from cancer.

In March, Michele Bouck, who has worked at the branch for 25 years, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She began chemotherapy in April, which wrapped up the first week of September.

According to branch manager Teri Ladd, the Goderich location has always supported CIBC’s Run for the cure event, but this is the first time they will participate as a team.

“We are dedicating it to Michele,” Ladd said.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is set for Sunday, October 4.

The local employees will participate in the London event.

Bouck, who was greeted warmly by her co-workers at the branch on Friday, called the support “humbling”.

“It gives you a great feeling,” Bouck said, adding that bank clients and the entire community have also been very supportive of her.

“I can tell them I’m doing well.”

Bouck still has to have surgery but she is hoping she can join in the walk.

Ladd said as of last Friday the branch’s team had raised $1,080.

Every Friday this month they are serving coffee, refreshments and goodies with all proceeds going to Run for the Cure.

There are also “tip” jars at each teller station, as well as an ongoing book sale.
