Qualifications:

·Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of computers and use of software

·Medical Office Administrative Diploma

 

Experience • Five years medical secretarial experience in a Mental Health setting is preferred.

 

 

Required Skills:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interacts with the public in a courteous manner to obtain information;

• Ensures confidentiality of client information;

• Demonstrated computer skills in developing and formatting correspondence and

reports;

• Skilled in maintaining client records;

• Answers telephone inquiries, relays/forwards messages, as appropriate;

• Manages clinical files on admission and discharge, filing, photocopying, mail

pick-up and delivery, and sorting, shredding, paper recycling;

• Participates, records, transcribes and distributes minutes for Team meetings and

other Committee Meetings as assigned, arranges meeting locations, catering

requisitions, receives RSVP's, confirms speakers, as required;

• Registers, edits, and discharges clients in Meditech program;

• Books appointments, registers clients, prepares files and assists with Clinic(s) for

the Psychiatrists;

• Completes requisitions for purchases and picks up office supplies;

• Carries out tasks as assigned by the Manager of Mental Health; and Identifies and pursues professional development opportunities. 

 

Abilities:

• Flexible and self-directed with well-developed time management and

organizational skills;

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability

to interact with the public, client and inter-agency groups in a courteous, efficient

manner;

• Commitment to work in concert with staff of the District Mental Health

programs/Community Psychiatric Services in supporting clients' needs;

• Demonstrated competence in operation of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

software programs. Competence in Meditech software program preferred;

• Knowledge of District Mental Health programs available in Huron and Perth

Counties; and demonstrated competence in medical transcription, medical terminology and

scheduling appointments.
