Alexandra Marine and
General
Hospital (AMGH) is an active, full service rural hospital staffed by family physicians, specialists and a wide range of visiting specialists. This well-equipped 54 bed hospital includes a 4 bed ICU, acute medical floor, inpatient general surgery, active obstetrical service, and a Schedule I Psychiatric facility. The hospital is in the process of installing a CT scanner to be operational December 2009. The AMGH provides health care services in
Huron
County for the Town of
Goderich and surrounding municipalities with a catchment area of approximately 25,000 people. This figure increases dramatically during the summer months due to the recreational nature of the surrounding area.
The Maitland Valley Medical Centre (MVMC) opened in June 2005 and is located across the road from the hospital. The MVMC is the location for the Maitland Valley Family Health Team (MVFHT). The Team consists of 11 GPs (and their support staff including RNs and RPNs), 4 NPs, dietitian, pharmacist, social worker, psychologist, diabetic educator and administrative support staff. In addition to providing primary care services the MVFHT provides chronic disease management programs, health promotion and preventative care programs.

Southwestern Ontario.
