AMGH is committed to patient safety and the delivery of safe, quality care. By taking part in a process called accreditation, we can ensure this happens. The process is know as Qmentum, partnering the words Quality and momentum to reflect the direction the health care industry is headed. The onsite survey is scheduled for October 17-20, 2010.
All of the accreditation teams have completed their self assessment questionnaires and have received their reports indicating the staff perception of the meeting of the standards.
All criteria contained within the standards were addressed with the questionnaire and the responses generated different colored flags to be used by the teams to determine what areas need closer attention.
Red flags serve as alerts. The red flagged items are to be reviewed to determine which ones require further investigation. The relevant standards are to be reviewed to learn more about the full standards requirements and identify any gap areas. Areas for improvement are then prioritized. If it is determined that improvements are necessary, then an action plan is created and evidence of action taken is submitted to Accreditation Canada.
Yellow flags indicate areas where some improvement may be required. Again, the relevant standards are reviewed to determine if / where gaps exist. Any required improvements are again prioritized; action plans created and evidence of action taken is submitted to Accreditation Canada.
Green flags indicate areas that do not require any improvement at this time.
Accreditation teams are now meeting regularly to review the flagged items and determine where improvements need to be made. Improvements can be made and evidence of action taken can be submitted to Accreditation Canada right up to the day the on site survey occurs.
